- Gelatine (you can buy this in a supermarket in the baking section)
- Glycerine (can also be found in the baking section)
- Water
- Paint brushes (buy cheap ones)
- Cream face paints
- Lollipop sticks
- Microwavable bowl
- Red & blue food dye or fake blood
- Black eyeshadow
- Translucent powder (baby powder)
- Makeup sponges
- Hair sliders
How to make the gelatine mixture...
- Pour 2 tablespoons of the gelatine, pour 2 tablespoons of water and pour 2 tablespoons of glycerine into the microwavable bowl.
- Mix together well with lollipop stick.
- Put in microwave for 20 seconds (on high)
- Stir well with lollipop stick.
- Add a bit of foundation to the mixture to give a skin colour look (optional).
- Before you apply the gelatine, always test it on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot for your face.
- Apply the first layer over your face. Then start to add more as you go along. The messier the better! You will also notice the gelatine thickening which is a sign to work faster!
- You can apply translucent powder over the gelatine once it's set on your face but i forgot this step in the video but it still ended up alright so it's ok if you don't have it!
- If you have any gaps in the gelatine use them to shade with black face paint (1:30 in the video). This will give the effect of a deep wound. Apply black eyeshadow over any black face paint.
- Apply with a sponge a dark purple cream face paint wherever you wish. Use lighter around the face to give a bruised look.
- For the neck wound, i made more gelatine and applied some down. Placed thin tissue paper over it so it will stick and then applied more gelatine over it. You can build up a few layers to get a better effect.
- Make a hole in the middle of it. Apply black face paint inside it to give it a deep wound look.
- Apply the purple cream face paint all around the neck with a sponge.
- You can also add in bits of green cream face paint.
- Apply fake blood.
How to make head prosthetic...
All i did was make the gelatine mixture, get a plate, pour it on the plate and wait for it to set (30mins) Peel it off and cut it with whatever shape you want to fit on your head. Clip it on with hair sliders. Apply more of the gelatine mixture over it and onto the forehead so it looks like it's part of the forehead.
How to make your own fake blood...
- Make the gelatine mixture just like before.
- Add red food dye to the mixture. About the amount of the lid size.
- You can add blue food dye for a darker colour.
TIPS!
- If you do not have glycerine, you can substitute it with 2 tablespoons of flour but instead of adding cold water, add hot water. You also don't have to put it in the microwave then. Stir well until mixture is smooth.
- Please be careful when working with food dye. It does stain!! my poor mothers carpet had to deal with such a disaster...
- Add in zombie contact lenses to give the full effect!
- Do not wear any good clothes. They will probably get ruined... i had to experience that the hard way.
- If you can't find dark purple cream face paint. Get a purple & a black and mix together.
- If you can't stand the smell of the gelatine mixture, add a drop of vanilla essence.
- Aaaaaand have fun with it! It doesn't have to be perfect. That's the point after all!
